Upton Grey Autumn Festival Menu & Evening Entertainment
2 course festival menu (shepherds pie or a vegetarian option (chickpea and sweet potato curry) and apple pie) for £10.
At 6pm attendees will gather outside the Hoddington Arms for a warming mulled wine or non alcoholic drink and loading the Guy Fawkes on the Trailer. Attendees are encouraged to bring lit (eg with night light candles (may blow out if windy!) or small LED lights available from B&Q) Jack O'Lanterns on long poles (poles and lantern attachments available outside the village shop ). Alternatively torches, head torches etc.
The afternoon's Guy Fawkes and Jack O' Lanterns that attendees have chosen to leave in the marquee will have been loaded onto a tractor and trailer and at 6.15pm this will then lead the procession of attendees down Weston Road to the bonfire. During the procession the Bell Ringers of St. Mary's Church will ring out a special Autumn peel.
The bonfire will then be lit and is courtesy of the efforts of the Janaway family (Newlyn's Farm Shop) and thanks to Marcel van Poecke for the use of Hoddington Park.
As the bonfire dies down a professional firework display will be started , courtesy of Linda Webb, Merlin Fireworks.
On returning to the Hoddington Arms attendees can choose to eat at pre booked (with the Hoddington Arms, 01256 862371) tables inside or have a pre booked Festival Menu in the heated Marquee in the back garden. Inside the Marquee we will be having a band and a halloween fancy dress competition followed by a Silent Disco.
In order to avoid the crush at the bar after the Firework Display you are strongly recommended to join our "theatre style" drinks pre ordering scheme to avoid lengthy queueing. This means you can pre order and pre pay for your drinks, ideally, at least 24 hours in advance for collection on your return from the fireworks.
